Use It Or Lose It?

Researchers Ross Andel and James Mortimer used the Swedish Twin Registry consisting of over 40 years of data to study more than 10,000 pairs of twins where one of the pair was mentally healthy and the other diagnosed with dementia. Andel, who published the study findings in the Journal of Gerontology: Psychological Sciences, concluded “our results suggest that intellectually demanding activity at work may facilitate brain health in old age.”

Alzheimer’s

My father developed Alzheimer’s when in his late 70’s. Have added a page called Facts About Alzheimer’s with some good information about this disease that includes both those affected and their caregivers.

More about Alzheimer’s will be posted here, soon.
